IBF Forum at YahooGroups is intended to facilitate discussion of issues relating to the infant, but exciting area of Islamic finance - arising out of a chemistry between the rich classical framework of Islamic law and the ever changing world of modern business and finance. Besides highlighting and seeking solutions to the issues through moderated discussions and deliberations, the Forum also seeks to serve as a medium for dissemination of relevant information among the community of students, researchers, bankers and finance professionals interested in this discipline.

The Forum has the following objectives: 

to network students, researchers and professionals with news and information about the infant but exciting and fast changing Islamic banking and finance industry;

to promote discussions regarding various theoretical issues of significance arising out of a chemistry between the rich classical framework of Islamic law and the world of modern finance;

to raise practical issues confronting finance professionals which require further deliberation, discussion and decision by scholars of Islamic law;

to present various such decisions and conclusions arrived at by Shariah scholars which are of relevance for the bankers and finance professionals;

to assess the functioning and performance of various Islamic organizations for the benefit of the Islamic investor and depositor community; 

to promote the teaching and learning of Islamic finance as a discipline in various institutions of learning;

The discussion is moderated by Research Coordinator, IBF NET.

The Forum is open to Members of the IBF Net, The Islamic Banking and Finance Network, but ideally would like to have the following persons subscribed: 

Students and researchers engaged in learning and research in the field of economics, finance and business, 

Students and researchers engaged in learning and research in the field of Islamic business and financial law, 

Academics interested in the field of Islamic finance and engaged in the task of extending the frontiers of knowledge in this infant discipline 

Professionals in Islamic banks and financial institutions,

Professionals in conventional banks that realize the potential of Islamic banking and finance
